Dear All,

Firstly, I hope that everyone is keeping well. The lockdown continues but with fewer restrictions. On Wednesday we saw our first golfer and our first cows on the common. On Saturday the Church would have hosted the annual newcomers party. Sadly we cannot welcome everyone who has moved into the village over the last year in person but we welcome you virtually.

Despite the easing of restrictions for some self-isolation will continue. So it is still important to support these people. Some of our village volunteers have offered to call people. If you think there is someone who would like a chat with a different person, let me know on 876173.

We can exercise a little more so here is a link to a cartoon by Dave Walker; an exercise worksheet, click on this link and scroll to the top:

The Christian year is busy over the next two weeks with Ascension Day, Pentecost or Whit Sunday and then Trinity Sunday. These three festivals may help us focus on the Holy Spirit working in our lives, how we can follow the teachings of Jesus or just reflect about the loving embrace of God.

If you are helping people here are some straightforward safeguarding guidelines:

'Volunteers to be advised to practice all government advice, so frequent hand-washing, keep a safe distance (leave things on doorstep). They should collect receipts for any purchases and wait for payment before handing over purchases. Those who need help to be advised of receipt/payment structure and that this is a volunteer operation, nothing formal.

Christian Aid Week finishes on Saturday. This year Christian Aid will support poorer countries with soap, clean water and medical supplies. If you feel you can, please donate on-line, here is the link:

Criminal activity has not gone away. Living in such a quiet environment might lull us into a false sense of security. Scams, rogue traders and thieves are still active. Here is the link to the UK police fraud website: .
