Dear All,

Firstly, I hope that everyone is keeping well. The lockdown continues. We await the announcement by the Prime Minister on Sunday. We can only speculate what changes that announcement may bring about. But for some self-isolation may continue. This may make life more difficult as their enforced solitude will continue while others may have more freedoms. After Sunday it may be even more important to support these people. Some of the volunteers have offered to call people so if you think there is someone who would like a chat with a different person, let me know on 876173.

If you are helping people here are some straightforward safeguarding guidelines:

'Volunteers to be advised to practice all government advice, so frequent hand-washing, keep a safe distance (leave things on doorstep). They should collect receipts for any purchases and wait for payment before handing over purchases. Those who need help to be advised of receipt/payment structure and that this is a volunteer operation, nothing formal.

On Sunday it is the start of Christian Aid Week. An envelope would have been distributed with each parish magazine, but Church of England guidelines are quite clear, we cannot distribute the parish magazines. This year Christian Aid will support poorer countries with soap, clean water and medical supplies. If you wish to donate on-line, here is the link:

Scams still abound. Here is the link to the UK police website: But so do thefts! A number of 4x4 vehicles have been stolen across the county at night. A dark blue vehicle has been seen in the areas at the time of the thefts. And two bicycles were stolen from a garage in Shortwood recently.

The Gloucestershire Community help hub allow people to post offers of and requests for help. Here is the link

If you know of anyone in another village who needs help there is a list of contacts, village by village on the Stroud District council website.

The link to the table of local suppliers is below. If people know of changes, I will pass them on.

Keep safe and keep in touch
Have a good week

This is the link to the Business Directory from Minchinhampton Life showing the status of local businesses. Missing from this list are Hobbs House and Stroud Brewery who are still operating as per earlier updates. The Amberley Inn will take orders on the day before for fish and chips. Very popular last week and very good by all accounts and as at time of posting slots still available.
